Conrad Weiser Falls to Hershey in District Soccer Final After
Penalty Shootout

Conrad Weiser's soccer team was held scoreless by Hershey through regulation and overtime in the District 3 Class 3A boys soccer final. The match was ultimately decided by penalty kicks, with Hershey emerging victorious 4-3 to claim their third consecutive district title.

Despite a strong defensive performance, Conrad Weiser couldn't secure the win, with Hershey's senior Cole Goodman scoring the winning penalty.

The Scouts showcased a resilient effort, with their goalkeeper making impressive saves, but it wasn't enough to overcome Hershey's accuracy in the shootout. Conrad Weiser, making their first district final appearance since 2003, will now advance to the PIAA Class 3A playoffs.

Wilson Girls Volleyball Narrowly Defeated by Hempfield in District Final

The Wilson girls volleyball team, ranked fourth, put up a valiant fight in the District 3 Class 4A final but was ultimately edged out by second-seeded and state top-ranked Hempfield.

The match extended to five sets, with Hempfield clinching their fifth consecutive championship and a record 16th title with a close 3-2 victory.

After a slow start, Wilson made a strong comeback in the second and third sets but couldn't maintain the momentum, losing the last two sets. Wilson's standout players included Airyanna Kline with 20 kills and Nia Kendall with 16 kills. Despite the loss, the Bulldogs, who had previously overcome a two-set deficit in the semifinals, are set to continue their season in the PIAA Class 4A playoffs. Coach Werner emphasized the importance of serving and passing as the team prepares for the state championship.

Flyers Rebound with 5-1 Victory Over Sabres, Ending Losing Streak

Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers overcame a three-game losing streak with a convincing 5-1 win against the Buffalo Sabres. Bobby Brink contributed a goal and an assist, while Scott Laughton, Louie Belpedio, Travis Konecny, and Garnet Hathaway each scored to secure the victory. Joel Farabee assisted twice, and goaltender Samuel Ersson stepped in with 22 saves due to Carter Hart's injury.

The Sabres' brief win streak was cut short despite Henri Jokiharju scoring their sole goal. The Flyers established an early lead with two quick goals and maintained dominance throughout the game. The Sabres faced additional setbacks with injuries to defenseman Mattias Samuelsson and rookie forward Zach Benson.
