Reading City Council Votes Against Appealing School-to-Apartments Conversion
The Reading City Council will not appeal the Zoning Hearing Boardβs decision to permit the conversion of the former Central Catholic High School into apartments, following a tied vote among council members. The developer, Reading Hill LLC, has been granted a special exception and variances for the project, despite concerns raised about residential density and city resource challenges.
Reading City Council Proposes Guardrails to Enhance
Skyline Drive Safety
Reading is seeking a $3 million state grant to install guardrails along a 2 1/2 mile stretch of Skyline Drive, aiming to enhance safety, preserve the environment, and improve the public's experience of the area. The project, which coincides with other planned repairs in the area, has garnered support from local government bodies and the Blue Mountain Region of the Sports Car Association of America.
Reading Prepares for Festive
Christmas Tree Lighting Event
Reading's Christmas tree lighting event, led by Mayor Eddie Moran, is a festive occasion aimed at bringing the community together and spreading hope and joy. Scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday at 5th and Penn streets, the event will feature non-profit organizations, performances, and treats like hot chocolate, embodying the spirit of the holiday season.
Reading Hospital Expands with Third Pharmacy Location in Wyomissing
Reading Hospital is expanding its pharmacy services with a third location in Wyomissing, offering comprehensive services including free home delivery, automatic refills, and medication counseling. The new pharmacy, part of a wider network of Reading Hospital pharmacies, aims to provide easy and convenient access to pharmaceutical care for the community.
π Eagles Eyeing Free Agent Linebacker Shaq Leonard Amid Injury Concerns
The Philadelphia Eagles are unexpectedly the underdogs at home in their upcoming Week 13 game against the San Francisco 49ers. Despite leading the NFL with at least a two-game advantage over every other team, the Eagles opened as two-point underdogs according to DraftKings Sportsbook. The betting line has fluctuated, dropping to one point in favor of the 49ers, then moving to -1.5, and is currently at 49ers -2.5.
This underdog status for the Eagles may be influenced by the 49ers' recent performance, which includes three consecutive wins and a strong second-place ranking in point differential and DVOA. The 49ers also have the advantage of extra rest, having last played on Thanksgiving, and are likely motivated to redeem themselves following a heavy defeat in the previous season's NFC Championship Game, where their quarterbacks Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson were injured.
However, the Eagles have consistently demonstrated their ability to secure wins, often surpassing expectations. Coach Nick Sirianni is expected to leverage the underdog narrative to motivate his team, reminding them of the 49ers' disparaging comments after their loss in January.
The scenario poses a challenge for the Eagles, raising the question of whether they will let the 49ers claim an easy victory in their home stadium. Given the Eagles' track record this season, betting against them might be unwise as they have repeatedly proven their resilience and capability to triumph in challenging situations.
