Pennsylvania's $70 Million
Boost for Public Libraries
Enhances Statewide Access
Pennsylvania is investing $70 million in public libraries as part of its 2023-24 budget, enhancing access and services for residents across the state. This investment, highlighted during a visit to the Fleetwood Area Public Library, will support local libraries and ensure statewide access to major resource centers. The budget also includes significant education funding and a program for universal free breakfast for all students. The Fleetwood Area Public Library, a beneficiary of this investment, continues to provide valuable resources and community programs.
Fatal Collision on Route 662
Claims Life in Amity Township

A fatal multi-vehicle collision occurred on Route 662 in Amity Township, resulting in the death of a woman. The accident happened near 625 Old Swede Road, Douglassville. The woman, traveling north, crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a vehicle driven by a Douglassville couple. The couple suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Reading Hospital.

Eagles Falter as 49ers Claim
Decisive Win in Heated Matchup

The San Francisco 49ers avenged their previous NFC championship game loss by defeating the Philadelphia Eagles 42-19. Deebo Samuel's earlier comments added tension to the game, but his performance, along with Brock Purdy's 314 yards and four touchdowns, led the 49ers to victory. The Eagles struggled, with Jalen Hurts briefly leaving the field for a concussion check. The game was also marked by the ejections of 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw and the Eagles’ chief security officer. The 49ers now prepare to face Seattle, while the Eagles gear up for a game against Dallas.
Flyers Rebound with Shootout
Victory Over Rival Penguins

The Philadelphia Flyers got the win over the Pittsburgh Penguins in a thrilling 4-3 shootout victory, ending their two-game losing streak. Sean Couturier's goal in the shootout was pivotal, while Samuel Ersson's saves against key Penguins players ensured the Flyers' win. Tyson Foerster, Owen Tippett, and Scott Laughton scored for the Flyers, while Jake Guentzel led the Penguins with two goals. The Flyers have now improved their recent record against the Penguins, setting the stage for their next encounter.
