🎄Sunday's Holiday Lights at Gring's Mill Postponed, Set to Sparkle Again Monday
The Holiday Lights at Gring's Mill in Spring Township hit pause Sunday night. Announced by the Berks County Parks and Recreation Department, this temporary closure was due to the anticipated inclement weather.
However, the festive display isn't dimming for long. It's set to resume its regular schedule from Monday to Saturday, starting December 18 and running until December 23. The holiday spirit will also make a return post-Christmas from December 28 to 30. Visitors can enjoy the dazzling lights each evening from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Propane Leak Suspected in North Heidelberg Township Home Explosion
A home explosion in North Heidelberg Township, investigated by the PSP, injured a man and two dogs. It occurred on Friday morning and is believed to have been caused by a propane leak in the basement, likely related to the propane furnace. A fire in the basement, resulting from the explosion, was sustained by heated materials. The incident's further investigation will be managed by insurance companies, with no criminal investigation anticipated.
Giant Employee in Spring Township Charged with $24,000 Embezzlement
Christina Bortz, a 53-year-old employee at Giant in Spring Township, has been charged with embezzling around $24,000 from the grocery store. Bortz, who worked as a "checkout coach" or in an accounting role, has admitted to the theft. She has been released on her own recognizance and is due for a preliminary hearing on December 26, according to court records.
Two Orwigsburg Contractors Charged with Home Improvement Fraud
Joseph B. Ellis Jr. and Anthony J. Menginie Jr. have been charged with home improvement fraud in Orwigsburg for failing to provide services despite receiving payment. The charges follow complaints by Rashel Richardson, who paid Ellis $50,050 and Menginie $8,500 for work that was never completed. Despite agreeing to issue refunds, neither contractor fulfilled their promise, leading to their current legal troubles.
Eagles' Coaching Shuffle: Patricia Takes Over Play-Calling from Desai
Matt Patricia is set to become the new defensive play-caller for the Philadelphia Eagles, taking over from Sean Desai. Desai will remain as the defensive coordinator but will move to the booth.
Patricia, a former coach with the New England Patriots and the Detroit Lions, joined the Eagles earlier this year. This change comes as the Eagles, currently with a 10-3 record, have faced two consecutive losses.
